May 5, 2024

Our first was actually a simple overnight, pull through site, where we did our first hook ups and
checked systems out. I pulled the RV from the house to the site, as it was a pull through. Very stressful as it was my first time driving with the RV attached but I took everything slowly and it went well. I did have to pull all the way through and go around again to get properly positioned on the pad.

There wasn’t enough time to do much, but we got to experience a set up and a tear down. We had a couple of people come to see the unit. Bud spent the night, I went home as I had to work the next morning. I returned about 11am the next morning and we did our first tear down and then we took the RV to the storage site.

The following weekend, we went out to Lake Cunningham, north of Omaha, for Friday and Saturday nights. This was a back in site, and Bud handled it very well. Electrical hook ups only so we stopped prior to getting to the site to fill our water tank.

It was a lovely site. Lots of trees, very large “front yard” looking over the lake and across it to the lighthouse. Table and firepit, of course. We had to use the a/c that first day as it was hot and humid; set up was quick as far as only electrical hook ups, but we took a lot of other stuff with us. Except for too much food, most of what we took with us stayed which will make next weekend much easier to do set
up.

Bud, of course, chatted with some of the neighbors, we did a firepit that night then Bud got our internet and TV set up working and we watched Buzz Lightyear. The bed was very uncomfortable. Saturday it was cold and rainy, we got to test out the furnace (which worked perfectly) and the
“fireplace” space heater. Grace and Billy came out for a couple of hours, then during the afternoon we came back to the house and got a mattress topper and a couple of other items. Eric stopped by in the evening and we watched “Clue” with Tim Curry and Madelaine Kahn, which was weirdly entertaining.

We slept better—it’s an adjustment because we’re moving down from a king sleep number to an RV king, but we’ll see if we can make it more comfortable for us as we keep working out the kinks. Trailer brakes were acting up when we did the tug test, and it appears we need hydraulic fluid for the six leveling jacks. Glad to find this out now.
